Emerging technologies have the power to sustain, transform, and disrupt education. Students work with and explore emerging technologies that may/will have a large impact on teaching, learning, research and creative expression. EDPE 640 is a practical hands-on course grounded in constructivist learning theory; students will create a personal learning network (PLN) using their own mobile device (smart phone or tablet).

Typical class breakdown:
  • 20 - 30 minutes --small group discussion based on weekly readings ~ questions submitted by group leader 2 days before class
  • 20 - 30 minutes -- whole group discussion with info shared by Sam and class. Short videos usually used to introduce
  • 60 - 75 minutes -- on main subject or topic ~given on the syllabus -- students will present weeks 5 to 10
  • 45 - 60 minutes -- Genius Hour--> learn something new --> Genius Hour Wiki - do we do this ??
